Tea and Roses

I verified a fact today. I really don't enjoy painting flowers.  Actually, they sort of scare me.
However, I just received a really lovely bouquet of roses from my sweet husband, so I should try to immortalize this thoughtful gift with a painting.
Since next week promises to be really busy with grand daughters here for school vacation week, I might have to take lots of photos. That's not my favorite way to work. Much better to paint from life.
These roses were purchased because they sort of matched the little roses on this antique teacup and saucer.  Sorry about the photo, it's not the best, but I quickly took some shots because I had to deliver this painting to the Jaffrey Civic Center Spring Show.    I have one more larger piece (this one is quite small, only 5x5) which I'll get a photo of in the next day or two and will post that here.
If you're in the area, please consider coming to see the show at the Civic Center.  The opening reception is  Friday, Feb. 7, 5-7 pm .
