Today's little painting (4x6) was really about that big old pine tree behind the shed. Everything else was just to put it into perspective. Colors are not quite as intense as shown... the my studio lamp burned out, and I don't have a color correct bulb to work with.. but this is close.
When we first moved into this 1860's farmhouse, one of the previous residents came by - 90 years old and born in the house. She walked through and told us so many tales about growing up in the house. Her father had planted roses in the back yard, behind our barn. And though this is not our barn, or our roses (which are red), it was with her in mind that I put the little rose bush in. So, Winnie, "Roses by the Barn" is for you.
