Some of you might recognize this guy.  (handsome, isn't he?)  I chose some rather difficult lighting, coming from the side, with the near side of the face entirely in shadow, and it was a challenge, but also interesting to paint.  I wouldn't call this one "finished", but I may leave it at this stage and move on to the next one.   I worked a little larger here, and found that it is easier to have a bit more space on the canvas to move around.  This one is 16x20, as opposed to the 9x12 sizes of the other portrait studies. However, for studies, it gets a bit expensive to work on large canvases.
